Writing an opinionated article, even if good and factual, will accomplish nothing. Other than making you feel good, it is close to nothing. If you want to do something run for office, persuade people to believe in your vision, and lead towards it.

An article like this is just the writer standing in a soap box preaching, you want to help your country join the military, want to help you town be a cop, ems, or a firefighter, want to help your local community run for a local position (or state position) and DO something and be FAIR about it.
