How about performance and scalability? Will this actually scale or create a really old type of chat/messaging? Also privacy wise, wouldn't everyone be able to read your chats if its on the blockchain? I am just very curious, because I am very interested in a solution like this one.

Youre totally right on all your concerns. This is a vary basic prototype just to illustrate the idea, there are other protocols to make it scalable such as L2 chains or oracles. Good luck on your project and let me know if you find any solution for these limitations :)
